Artist's Biography

Andy Parsons recent work has taken its inspiration from the landscape of the west coast of Ireland. In landscapes where figures are conspicuous by their abscence, rocks,trees, telegraph poles assume greater than usual importance. The simplicity of the pictures and the solitude of the scenes allude to German romantic painting as well as the work of Irish artists such Yeats.
 
Since graduating from his MA in 1990, Andy has shown widely in London, Amsterdam, Dublin and Tokyo. His work includes painting drawing printmaking and sculpture. Exhibitions have include the Jerwood Drawing Prize and solo shows at the Castlefield Gallery in Manchester and the Standpoint Gallery in London.
