Artist's Biography
Louis Turpin was born in London in 1947. He studied Fine Art at Guildford and Falmouth College of Art. After graduating he worked for several years as a film-maker. In 1974 he moved to Sussex and began painting full time. He is also a musician playing blues-based guitar at venues around the Sussex region. His paintings are set within the three beautiful valleys of the Rivers Bredle, Tillingham and Rother which all meet at Rye.
The rona Group of Artists evolved from the RONA Gallery in Mayfair (1985 - 2009). During the period 2003 - 2009 LouisTurpin showed regularly with the group and had a major one man exhibition in 2005 (Three Valleys). Turpin has shown widely throughout the country and one of his paintings was exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in 1986 and in 1997 he was commissioned to paint the gardens and landscape surrounding Glyndebourne.
