Artist's Biography
Patricia MacCarthy graduated from Brighton Art College in 1983, with a BA Honors Degree in Graphic Design. Since then she has worked as an illustrator for Children’s Books, Greetings Cards, Advertising, Merchandise, posters and Private Commissions.
She lives and works by the sea and rolling Sussex down-land near Brighton, with her husband, the Fantasy Artist John Avon, her two sons, Laurence and James.
Over the years Patricia has enjoyed long associations with high profile clients such as, Random House Children’s Books (‘The Dewdrop Babies’ 13 book series), Templar Books (‘The Letter Adventure Series’), Little Tiger Press and Macmillan Children’s Books.
She has also collaborated extensively with the well-known New Zealand author, Margaret Mahy, and was awarded the New York Times ‘Best Illustrated Book of The Year’ for ’17 Kings and 42 Elephants’.
Patricia is currently working on her own picture book series' with Scholastic, Francis Lincoln and Egmont Books
