Artist's Biography
Richard Adams was born in Hampshire in 1960. In 1981 he received a BA Hons in Graphic Design at Leicester Polytechnic and now rates as one of the most exciting, original and idiosyncratic painters to have emerged in Britain in recent years. A powerful comic charge characterises much of Adams’ art in which social conventions, taboos and eccentricities are highlighted and gently satirised but always with enduring humour.
The Rona Group of Artists evolved from the RONA Gallery in Mayfair (1985 - 2009). During the period 2000 - 2009 Richard Adams showed regularly with the group and had one man shows himself in 2001 (New World); 2003 (Country Banquet): 2004 (Tales from my Village); 2005 (Parish News); 2006 (Bathtubs and Beauties); 2007 (This Beautiful World) and 2008 (Land of Hope and Glory).
